Responsibility

Sustainability

We're not perfect. But we're deliberate about every choice we make — and honest about the ones we haven't solved yet.

🌿

Natural materials first

Our carriers are primarily cotton and linen — renewable, biodegradable fibres grown without irrigation (linen) or with minimal water (organic cotton). We avoid synthetic fabrics wherever performance allows and source exclusively OEKO-TEX certified materials free from harmful chemicals.

Our cotton is sourced from GOTS-certified farms, and our linen comes from European flax fields that require no irrigation and naturally regenerate the soil they grow in.

📦

Considered packaging

No plastic bags. No tissue paper. No rigid branded boxes you'll throw away within ten minutes of opening. Your carrier ships in a recycled and recyclable cardboard mailer, printed with soy-based inks.

The carrier's own integrated storage pouch serves as its packaging — eliminating the need for a separate dust bag or box insert. Total packaging weight: under 60 grams.

♻️

Built to last, not to replace

The most sustainable product is one you don't have to rebuy. Née carriers are designed for years of daily use, backed by a two-year warranty, and repairable beyond that.

When your carrying years are done, pass it on. These carriers are designed for second, third, and fourth lives. Our fabric gets softer with age, and our hardware doesn't fatigue. A well-used Née carrier is a better product than a new one.

🏭

Responsible manufacturing

Our manufacturing partner is SA8000 certified — the most rigorous social accountability standard in the industry. This means independently verified fair wages, safe working conditions, reasonable hours, and zero child labour.

We visit the facility at least once a year, and we publish the key findings from our annual audit in our sustainability report. We believe transparency is more valuable than marketing claims.

🚚

Lower-impact shipping

We ship ground whenever possible and consolidate international shipments to reduce per-unit freight emissions. Standard shipping uses ground and sea freight; only express orders use air.

We offset the carbon emissions of every shipment through verified reforestation projects — but we're honest that offsetting is a patch, not a solution. We'd rather ship less air freight than offset more of it.

What we haven't solved yet

We still use virgin polyester webbing for our straps — recycled alternatives don’t yet meet our strength requirements. We’re working with our suppliers to change this.

Our buckles are injection-moulded POM plastic. It’s the safest, most durable option available, but it’s not biodegradable. We’re exploring bio-based alternatives.

We ship internationally, which means air freight for express orders. We offset these shipments, but offsetting is a patch, not a solution.

We publish an annual sustainability report. Want to read it or share feedback? Get in touch.
